How To Get Playlisted

Find Playlists

Spotify’s “Pitch for Editorial Playlists” is a great place to start. Thousands of songs are being released a day so to be honest the chances of getting noticed through this feature is slim, but what this does do is help the algorithm identify your song as well as put your song on “Release Radar” for your current fans.

Distrokids “Playlister” feature will lead you to thousands of playlists emails. This is a good place to reach out to playlist curators, but remember, don’t pay for any of these playlists. Paying for playlists is a scam generally full of bots, you only want to get on playlists from genuine people who do it for the love of music.

Reach Out To Playlists

Distrokid will provide emails to the playlist curators, now it’s time to pitch yourself to the curator. Levelr.app/pitch is a great resource for creating a quick and professional pitch for your song, or you can write one yourself! Now copy this pitch and blast it out to all the playlists that interest you.

Create Your Own Playlist

Create your own playlist in collaboration with other artists in your niche. Now all of you advertise this playlist to your audience, everyone gains new fans, and your listeners discover new artists, it’s a win win win.

Collabs

Speaking of collaboration, collaborating with other artists is a great way to be discovered by their fans and potentially get on playlists that they’re on. Write a song together and do a joint release, feat. on each others tracks, share each others music, etc. Marketing music is hard enough on your own, don’t forget there’s a community out there to help each other out.

If you’ve gotten to the end of this thank you for reading. Just a reminder that I am in no way an expert on any of this and am just sharing information I’ve learned from others in my community that I found interesting and helpful.
